The Opportunity
A global engineering consultancy are looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join and work on significant projects within their established Building Engineering Team in Northwest & Yorkshire – Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, or Liverpool.
Their aspiration as engineers is to design market-leading, sustainable systems that push the boundaries of engineering to create a legacy. They work in an interdisciplinary environment and produce Building Designs whilst pushing toward zero-carbon development.
You will work on our clients behalf to help achieve accredited sustainability credentials using various assessment methods.
This role is to supervise the provision of sustainability assessment methods as a service offering to our clients. You will advise our clients and internal project directors about the various assessment methods available you will manage/coordinate a team of trained assessors in the delivery of the service.
You will actively participate in each assessment, either as an assessor or in a checking/coordination role and assisting with communication of the issues to the client and design team. The approach is that the assessments we take on will instigate positive change and not merely a box-ticking exercise.
Your role will be to supervise in a dynamic and stimulating environment with a myriad of opportunities to apply your growing knowledge and expertise to a range of exciting projects.
Responsibilities
* Lead sustainability assessment elements of building projects of various sizes, playing a key role in wider project leadership and client-facing activity
* Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs
* Offer consultancy advice and prepare assessment reports in a timely fashion and within budget
* Develop and deliver a clear service offering to clients, to provide a range of sustainability assessments and associated advice
* Take a central role in pushing forward the skills and abilities of team members, including supervising and training junior engineers
* Share and expand knowledge through participation in relevant skills networks and collaboration with those in similar roles in wider offices
You will work closely and establish strong working relationships with other business groups across the sub-region and be expected to establish strong links with the clients and external contacts.
We would like your role to be developed over time into business development, bid submission and client care. Regular visits will be expected to the Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, and Sheffield offices, where you may be sharing resources or workload, carrying out design reviews, staff appraisals or supporting the buildings teams in these locations.
Requirements
* A demonstrable track record of successful delivery of sustainability assessments within a Building Engineering environment including BREEAM or other popular sustainability rating systems such as LEED, SKA, WELL
* A good general understanding of current local and national issues within sustainability and climate change agendas
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to lead meetings and workshops, and to write clear, concise, and informative reports.
* Chartered status through CIBSE, IEMA or other relevant body and degree qualified or working toward Chartership with a masters degree or equivalent
